June 16 Update
Here’s an update for next weekends ARRL Field Day.
WEATHER – That Is surely on everyone’s mind this weekend. Looking ahead to next Saturday, the weekend looks sort of dry. Unfortunately the days leading up to then have a almost daily chance of rain.
I’ll be walking the site Thursday, or Friday, and we have plans to stake off any overly muddy spots with caution tape. Please plan to exercise caution when choosing your parking spots to we don’t tear up the grass.
CHECK-IN STATION – Since the 2 Meter repeater will not be completed by Field day, we will be monitoring both the 2M & the 440 machine throughout the weekend. Plans are afoot to mount the check-in antenna a bit higher than in years past, in order to get a better shot at the machine.
STATIONS – we’ll be running the club rigs, plus Doug, KB8DNQ has offered use of his rig.
The laptops have been programmed with the latest version of the logging software.
SATURDAY BREAKFAST –We’ll be meeting at McDonalds on East State St (Across from Memorial Park) at 9 AM Saturday.
SATURDAY LUNCH – Around Noon – 1 PM, we’ll order pizza.
SATURDAY DINNER – Around 5 PM, we’ll have a carry in dinner. The menu this year includes Pulled pork, and hot dogs. Everyone should plan to bring something to share.
GOTA – No GOTA station has been planned. Since the intent of GOTA is for a new, or inactive Ham to handle this, I’ll leave that up to whoever wants to do it. No one has stepped up yet.
BONUS POINTS – We’ve had a couple folks offer to help with specific bonus point categories.
We can still use some volunteers in the following categories: – Message origination to the SM – Message Handling – Satellite QSO – Educational Activity – Site visitation by an elected official, or representative of an agency – Social Media
We’ll have two donation jars set out this year.
First, there’s the donation jar to help defray the cost of the Field Day weekend, secondly, we will be accepting donations towards the W8LKY Two Meter Repeater project.
DONATING TO EITHER OF THESE FUNDS ARE STRICTLY VOLUNTARY!
So, that is about it for now. I have a couple things I’d like to try this weekend, but we’ll see if time permits.
