President’s Notes for June 2019

June 2019 promises to be a busy month for AARC.

June 1st starting at8:30AM, will be our monthly breakfast gathering at Poncho’s on West State Street in Alliance and we hope you come and enjoy good food and fellowship.

June 12 starting at 6PM, we will have our annual AARC picnic in the Log Cabin located in Silver Park (enter the park at the main entrance and the log cabin is on your left as you begin to go down the drive to the lake). We will be grilling Hot Dogs (Pres-Ron (KE8HCY) cooking) and if you want to bring something to grill that would be great too. Please bring a side dish to share, utensils, paper products, an assortment of soft drinks, water will be furnished by the club.

June 22-23 is Spring/Summer Field day and this year we will return to Sebring Holiness Camp (Rt. 62 east to Perkins, left at the light(Johnson Road) go north and the camp is on the left near Texas Ave and the Friend’s Church) more information will be passed on about this traditional event held by AARC.

The Two Meter Repeater project is moving forward, details have been worked out and the project is funded by our treasury and we hope to have our new antenna installed on the tower by the end of June. We will gladly accept any donations towards this project. We are exploring various ways and means projects for the clubs treasury. One idea that we are floating is a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser and it would include a silent auction of baskets filled with various items. We have a location and all we have to do is select a date and promote the project, this would be open to the general public.

We are still going to raffle off a base transceiver in the fall. We are getting more check ins on the Thursday night two meter(2) meter net and the Echo link is back up on Ben (KD8KMG) call sign.

We heard Jerry (KG8RN) on Echo Link this past Thursday night 5/16/2019.
Do not forget to renew your membership in AARC, print out the dues form from our web site and either mail it in with your check or bring it June 1st breakfast meeting or to the picnic June 12.
Let’s get on the Air, we have so many nets to participate in and the numbers are getting better all the time.
